For this project, I analyzed the socio-psychological foundations of conformity, including acceptance, compliance, and obedience; normative and informational influences, cognitive dissonance, and group pressure. I also reflected on the conformity experience, and such terms as unanimity, cohesion, and status. In addition, I also delved into the negative aspects of conformity, the positive effects, and shared three recommendations for optimizing group collaboration experience.
This project was broken down into two parts. The first part was about analyzing the impact of implicit bias and stereotype threat on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and looked into the growth mindset as a possible solution. Part two was about responding to the challenges of instituting DEI in an organization, in this case, a university, and I proposed some ideas on how to achieve this.
