Maria Scruggs | Aspiring Clinical Psychologist
While at SNHU, I learned about different skills that can enhance performance in a professional setting. For example, the different skills encompassing emotional intelligence (self-awareness, self-regulation, ethical judgment, empathy, social awareness, and conflict resolution) can help build and maintain a positive environment where all employees thrive.
In addition, the critical thinking and material review during my degree has promoted the development of a professional mindset. For almost every project, we had to reflect on how the subject connects to self-care, social justice, emotional intelligence, career connections, and/or ethics. This engagement in critical thinking took my learning a step further to begin thinking about ways I could apply my knowledge in the real world.
Some of the soft skills that best promote my ability to thrive in a rapidly changing world are honesty and integrity, a growth mindset, adaptability, organization, multicultural sensitivity, and leadership. I am confident that I have increased these soft skills while at SNHU. A growth mindset and leadership are my favorites of all the skills listed here.
